چکیده

Abstract. The Iberian Peninsula is prone to drought due the high variability in Mediterranean climate with severe consequences for drinking water supply, agriculture, hydropower and ecosystem functioning. Because of complexity relevance droughts this region, it necessary increase our understanding temporal interactions precipitation, evapotranspiration soil moisture that originate from within Ebro basin, northeastern Spain, as study region. Remote sensing land-surface models provide high-spatial-resolution high-temporal-resolution data characterize anomalies detail. increasing availability these datasets has potential overcome lack situ observations moisture. Study on Calculation of Land Surface Evapotranspiration Using Remote Sensing

Evapotranspiration (ET) plays a significant role in regional and global climates through its partitioning in hydrological cycles, and its estimation is thus of a great importance in assessing ground water and surface water resources, predicting crop yield and planning land use. For experimenting the possibility to assess the hydrological responses of ecological restoration in the Western Chines...

Assimilating remote sensing data in a surface flux–soil moisture model

A key state variable in land surface–atmosphere interactions is soil moisture, which affects surface energy fluxes, runoff and the radiation balance. Soil moisture modelling relies on parameter estimates that are inadequately measured at the necessarily fine model scales. Hence, model soil moisture estimates are imperfect and often drift away from reality through simulation time. Because of its...

Drought Variability and Land Degradation in Semiarid Regions: Assessment Using Remote Sensing Data and Drought Indices (1982-2011)

We analyzed potential land degradation processes in semiarid regions worldwide using long time series of remote sensing images and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) for the period 1981 to 2011. The objectives of the study were to identify semiarid regions showing a marked decrease in potential vegetation activity, indicative of the occurrence of land degradation processes, and t...

Determination of land surface temperature and soil moisture from Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission/Microwave Imager remote sensing data

[1] An analytical algorithm for the determination of land surface temperature and soil moisture from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission/Microwave Imager (TRMM/TMI) remote sensing data has been developed in this study. The error analyses indicate that the uncertainties of the enrolled parameters will not cause serious errors in the proposed algorithm. By applying the proposed algorithm to T...
